CRUISE-MATE is an easy to use (takes about as much effort as operating your directional) lever operated throttle lock, originally designed to replace the original Harley-Davidson thumbscrew throttle lock. Popular demand has since forced us to adapt Cruise-Mate to Victory and Metric Cruisers.

CRUISE-MATE operates in less than 1/2 turn, simply flip the lever forward (toward front of bike) to turn it on and set your throttle where ever you wish. Flip the lever back (toward rear of bike) to turn it off and return your throttle to normal operation.

Cruise-Mate was invented by a U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran (Me) in a very small home machine shop.

An injury to my right hand prevented riding long distances without my hand becoming completely numb. So, it was either develop a solution to the constant vibration or possibly give up riding my Harley (the latter was not an option I cared to consider).

Attempts to reduce or eliminate the constant vibration (a way of life for Harley riders) failed and it became obvious the only options left were to buy a new bike with cruise control (couldn't afford that), or develop a product that would relieve some of the pressure required to hold the throttle open while riding.

My criteria for the end product was:

  • It had to be fully functional with very little effort for the rider.
  • It had to be easy to operate in any weather (I ride year round if there is no snow on the ground).
  • It had to look good on the bike.
  • It had to be easy to adjust to compensate for wear over time.

After many attempts to develop a lever operated device that met the above criteria, without modifying the original equipment switch housing, only led to mediocre solutions. Finally I decided to drill out the hole in the original housing and installed a stainless steel bushing with a much coarser thread.

WOW, as soon as installation was complete and I took it for a test ride I knew it was the perfect solution. Soon after that I installed some on friends bikes and they all loved it.

It worked out so well, I applied for a U.S. Patent (which is still pending), named it Cruise-Mate and started mass producing and selling the product retail. We presently have over 50 dealers and growing very fast.
