Where did Cruise-Mate come from and what are we about?
Cruise-Mate motorcycle cruise
control was invented in a garage
in Bellingham, MA out of necessity. After many years of riding and an injury to
my right hand I found it harder and harder to hold the throttle open for
extended periods of time without my right hand going numb. Electronic
cruise-control wasn't an option on my carbureted 2001 Electra Glide Classic so I
searched all the normal vendors for a throttle control that was easy to operate,
easy to adjust, looked good on the bike and was affordable.
Although there were several
solutions available, none of them met all my demands. They were either plastic
and looked like crap on the bike, or they were very difficult to adjust for
proper operation, or they were far from affordable.
This being said and me being a life
long gear head, I went into my garage to find the perfect solution for my
tired hand. After many failed attempts at coming up with the perfect throttle
control Cruise-Mate was born.
After putting it on my own Electra
Glide and realizing it was the perfect solution for my fatigued hand it wasn't
long before everyone I knew with a motorcycle wanted one and their friends
wanted one and so on. Because we can no longer keep up with demand
we now sub contract with a U.S. manufacturer to produce Cruise-Mate's for us.
Today we have almost 7000
Cruise-Mates on the street (and nothing but rave reviews by the way), 200
dealers across the U.S. and Canada and
Kuryakyn is adding
Cruise-Mate to their 2011 product catalog.
