I hope you post this to help assure others that this is not a complicated install.  I own a 2008 Harley Heritage Softail Classic and I am by no means a motorcycle mechanic.  After reading through the instructions and also referring to my Harley specifications manual on throttle controls for my own assurance, I proceeded to install this kit. I was a little apprehensive at drilling and tapping the housing, but the jig that comes with the kit made drilling the hole a breeze, even with a hand held drill. I also have a nice set of tap and dies and tapping the hole worked like a charm. I am a novice and the whole install took me roughly an hour.

After installing the cruisemate and putting the housing back together, I tweaked the settings while dry testing the throttle. This was also easy. I then took the bike out and it performed flawlessly. It is so nice to set the throttle with a single flip of your thumb and not to have to screw with that little thumbwheel again. THANK YOU!   

Just a little advice for others from my install experience... keep your fingers on those little throttle cable ferrules. I dropped one and it took me 10 minutes of belly surfing my garage floor to find it.

Tell you what….best darn product I’ve installed on my 08 Sportster. I have pretty severe neuropathy in both hands and a left prosthetic leg. That makes it difficult to hold the throttle for long rides. I installed the Cruise-Assist last Wednesday. Made adjustments to it on Thursday. Friday I rode from Austin, TX to Denhim Springs, LA, which is 463 miles one-way. The cruise-assist made the trip bearable, comfortable and enjoyable. Made the entire trip in a little over 8 hours and because of this excellent device you invented I was able to make the trip easily. The trip back on Sunday was just as enjoyable. I am looking forward to a trip to Pennsylvania in April 2012, which is 1500 miles one-way and I am confident the Cruise-Assist will make that trip an easy one. Installation was a breeze, instructions were accurate and I am amazed you market it for such a low, low price. Thank You so much.

Hey guys, i received your cruise mate last week and would like to give you some feed back. I have to say that fitting was easy and supplying the kit with a jig block was a smart idea. I suffer from carpal tunnel and often get numb hands within 15-30 mins of riding. i decided to go on a ride with my friends on the weekend (850km) and i would not have been able to have such a  great ride if i did not have your cruise mate. Thanks heaps guys for making me able to enjoy my bike so much more!

Not sure if you remember me, but I am Eric Vanderwal's brother in law...you came to his garage last August and personally installed my cruise-mate on my 2007 HD Street Glide!
 
All I can say is wow...I do not know how I rode this thing before getting your awesome product!  The cruise-mate works just flawless as you told me it would.  My trip through the North East and then all the way to the Florida Keys last August would never have been as fun and relaxing if it wasn't for you!

Hi Tom,

You are a genus and my new personal hero!!  I talked to you on Mon. about getting a predrilled housing, but you talked me into getting the kit and giving it a try myself.  The kit arrived on Fri. and Fri. evening I got it installed.  You were right, it was not that bad to install.  I was a little nervous messing with my throttle mechanism/cables and had to hold my breath while drilling and tapping the hole, but everything came out great. 

I rode Sat. and Sun. and after a little playing around, got the hang of the Cruise-Mate and don't know how I lived without it.  It gives me the time to let my arm down and the numbness subside so I can feel everything again. 

Thank you so much for your superb product and may Harley-Davidson and all the other big companies buy it from you so they can make it stock on their bikes and you can make a bazillion dollars.

 In case you are interested, here are some pictures of my 2009 Harley-Davidson Cross Bones bike and the Cruise-Mate installed on it.

I just wanted to let you know what a great product you have.  I installed it on my "05 Fatboy this weekend and It was a pleasant experience.  The jig worked perfectly.  The instructions were clear easy to follow.  I will not hesitate to recommend Cruise Mate to who has the need for one.

I always said "I'd never put a cruise control product on any of my bikes". Now all I can say is "I love my Cruise-mate".
Its an amazing piece of engineering. You must get it. You will have to put it in though. Lots of great how-to's on here.
This thing is SWEET! I had a small install issue I talked to Tom about regarding the inner clamp bar being too close to the control while tightened during install causing the drill/tap to run into it. I think he has since cleared up the issue, other than that it is super slick to use, flips on/off really easily and is intuitive to adjust even while riding. For the money it is BY FAR the best mod I've done to the bike, second would be the HID headlight and third would be the air ride. Ride safe guys!
I'd recommend yes. The Wife was immediately envious, so she has one on her Nightrain too. She used it for the first time this weekend on a Hooter's run and is completly sold on it.

I agree with Pro - one of the best, simplest things I've done on the Dog. Besides, drilling and tapping is always fun!
great product, thanks again Tom. This makes long rides easier on the hands as they start to go numb or cold.

You might be interested to know that each of those BD's lined up at the camp site had a cruise-mate installed!!! Everyone of them.

Cruise-MAte is a must have for any BigDog distant riders - IT offers the simplest method to lock the throttle and is easily adjustable. The kit contained all the tools I needed for the install - which is a rare thing nowadays with after market products.

Damn Tom, if it hadn't been for the Cruise-Mate I wouldn't have made it cross country after you installed it in Daytona.
When you are riding in cold rain and even snow flurries as I was it's great to be able to lock the throttle and lay the hand on the rocker box.

Thanks for a great product and it worked well for me my whole trip. Even out in Kalifornia when it was so hot and you riding straight for 24 hrs it's great to remove your hand and flex some blood back into it.
Beats that little knot they have on them or lack of one at all on the newer bike.

Cruise-Mate is a great product ... I've been looking for something for 3 years and nothing comes close to the quaility of Cruise-Mate ... NO I'm not getting any commission It's just a great product and worth every penny. You will wonder why you didn't do it sooner ... all of us that installed it would do it on the next bike if it didn't come with one. My .02 cents ...

WOW is all I have to say … period! Not only for a great product but as a business owner myself it is an understatement to say that the backbone of your business is your customer service. Being forty years young I can say I never have seen the president of a company come out and sweat on a ninety degree plus day to install and back one of their products.

A huge Thanks Tom … right out of the gate after the installation was complete I took my Road King and scooted off down the road to give the Cruise-mate a trial run. Worked like a charm! I originally saw this on a buddy’s bike and instantly was curious. Now owning it myself I wonder why the hell I waited so long.  You have a true supporter as stated above … not only for a kick ass product but a hell of a customer service department.

First of all I like it when a vendor stands behind their product, and you sure did. The longer insert you sent me worked great. We just got back from Chilicothe Ohio and it was a life saver. It really saved on my girlfriends hand. We went a total of 5798 miles round trip. I still don't know what the problem was with that bikes grip. It was a grip and housing from Harley. Anyway, thank you and I am sure if anyone ask me about how my Cruise-Mate works, they will know the truth. It was the bomb. I would not hesitate recommending your product to everyone I know.
